Naures Sager is an Iraqi-Swedish filmmaker. He was born in Bulgaria and grew up in Sweden. He completed a Bachelor's Degree in Film Production at University West in 2008. He is the founder of the production company The Uneven which produces LGBTQ+ films, with a focus on people from the Middle East. Naures is an openly gay man and lives with his boyfriend Michael Detlef in Malmö where they run the company. Naures is a writer, A director and A producer.
Naures’s short film “1-1” is co-produced with film I skåne and has been screened at film festivals all over the world (including NewFest and Cleveland International Film Festival). It was nominated for the Iris Prize and won the Pixel Talent Award in 2020. It has been renewed for screening at SVT Play for a total of three years. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Naures’s short film "Habib & The Thief" Is co-produced with SVT and Film I Skåne. It competed at Uppsala Short Film Festival, Stockholm International Film Festival, Leeds International Film Festival and is nominated for nordic new voice at nordisk panorama 2022. The film's lead song is Naures's debut single "Mako Mithli", an Iraqi Queer Anthem.
Naures is developing his debut feature film the love pill with an expected premiere in 2024.
